Burton Street plaza trial

A local plaza is being trialled for six months on Burton Street, Kirribilli as part of the Streets as Shared Spaces program.

The trial plaza will be a central hub within the Kirribilli village and provide a space where people are able to meet friends or sit down and enjoy the surroundings.

North Sydney Council says space will be a contemporary and creative area, that can be used both day and night and is suitable for residents and visitors of all ages.

The creation of a permanent plaza in Burton Street is an initiative in Council’s Kirribilli Village Centre Masterplan.

Throughout the next six months, Council will assess the use of the plaza and the impact of traffic before determining if the road would benefit from being closed permanently.

The trial plaza contains sustainable design principles with temporary elements that can be removed and re-used if Council decides not to proceed with a permanent closure at the end of the trial period.
