Northern Beaches Council has been awarded the Cities Power Partnership Renewable Energy Achievement Award.

The award recognises Council’s four-year Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP), which delivers corporate and community renewable and emission reduction targets and details the switch to renewable energy.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan says it was a ‘fantastic achievement’ and demonstrates the local government’s commitment to climate change.

“Northern Beaches Council is proud to be part of the growing wave of future-minded communities and Councils Australia-wide who share our passion for championing sustainability and climate change action,” Mayor Regan said.

Over the last 18 months, Council has implemented key renewable energy actions, including its renewable electricity Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Simplifying Solar Program and Sydney’s first free, ‘green powered’, fast electric vehicle charging station.
