Arcadia Pittwater Private Hospital Marks Third Birthday

Located on Sydney’s northern beaches Arcadia Pittwater is an 85 bed sub-acute private hospital delivering a range of rehabilitation, medical and palliative care services within a hotel style environment. The hospital has been designed to provide a superior residential environment for optimising patient recovery and outcomes. 
This month marks the third birthday for Arcadia. Since opening in 2018 over two thousand inpatients have been treated, and over 870 people have attended day rehabilitation.

Empathetic nursing care is supplemented with dietitian and chef-led dining experiences. Facilities include a rehabilitation and physiotherapy centre, hydrotherapy pool, gymnasium, occupational therapy, and treatment rooms. There is also a range of lounges and open-air balconies for sunshine and garden breaks, all to encourage mobilisation and socialisation to enhance patient’s recovery.

Speaking for the Board of Arcadia Health Care, Dr Harry Pannu explains the role Arcadia Pittwater plays in the local community “Arcadia Pittwater provides a much-neglected link in a patient’s recovery journey from an acute illness or surgical procedure in a standard hospital to being sufficiently well enough to return home. Many patients can and should return home after a 3-day recovery from an acute event, but there remains a significant number of patients who would benefit more from an extended stay in a specialised recovery hospital”. 

Our Staff

Arcadia Pittwater has over 210 employees holding full time, part time and casual positions. Our multidisciplinary team consists of specialist doctors, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation specialists, dietitians, speech pathologists, social workers, and nursing staff.

In addition to our modern gym and hydrotherapy facilities, we have one of the lowest patient to staff ratios on the Northern Beaches. This means you receive more one on one time with your therapists.

Inpatient & Day Rehabilitation Services include Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Spinal Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Neurological Rehabilitation, Cancer Rehabilitation, Reconditioning, and Falls Prevention programs.

Medical, Geriatric & Palliative Care

Arcadia offers individualised inpatient programs for older adults, in a dedicated Medical and Geriatric ward supported by a friendly and experienced multidisciplinary team. The program is suitable for any older persons following an admission to hospital or acute illness.

Our key focus is providing Palliative Care programs where patients and their loved ones achieve dignity and comfort in state-of-the-art facilities. The team works together to meet their physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs. Family and carers are offered practical and emotional support. 

Our large palliative care rooms can accommodate a loved one staying with the patient. This allows for maximum contact during imminent death and the building of staff rapport to provide the very best individualised care to each of our patients, and their family.

The multidisciplinary team includes geriatricians, rehabilitation specialists, palliative care specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, speech pathologists, and nursing staff.

Day Rehabilitation & Wellness Programs 

The hospital is also available to patients continuing their recovery at home and operates as a wellness hub providing education and preventative programs to those who want to actively manage their own health and wellness. 

Arcadia’s day only rehabilitation is suitable for anyone who does not require inpatient hospital care, however requires ongoing rehabilitation treatment following a recent surgery, injury, or illness. 
On completion of the day rehabilitation program, or finishing up with another hospital program, patients can maintain their exercise regime with our Wellness Program. This provides full access to the hydrotherapy pool and gym along with all available equipment to continue your exercise program independently in a safe, familiar environment.
