North Shore residents and tireless volunteers Colleen Godsell and Penny Howell have been named 2021 Local Women of the Year.

Ms Godsell, who was recognised by the North Shore electorate, was awarded for her decades of service to Scouts Australia, fundraising and organising events.

Over 5 years, Ms Godsell raised over $1 million to preserve the Mosman Scout Hall, known locally as ‘The Barn’.

She has also previously been awarded a Distinguished Service Award and a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her volunteer work and was a member on the board of Redlands for 10 years.

Meanwhile, Penny Howell was recognised by the Davidson electorate for her work volunteering with St Ives Football Club and Northside Radio FM99.3.

Ms Howell is the former president and current special projects officer at the club and is a volunteer presenter at the community radio station.

She is also a musician and has recently performed for several charitable organisations in person and online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
